The major part of the holdings deal with his career in the early part of the 1960s: contemporary papers and later reminiscences of his command of the Military Assistance Advisory Group to Laos, 1961 to 1962 and an album relating to his command of the 25th Infantry Division, 1963-1964. Most of the letters, articles, and photographs in the album pertain to the Asiatic languages school which he established in the division, under the direction of Major Edward L. Johnson. Some material on the school continues into 1965, when Major General Fred C. Weyand led the division. Also contains transcripts of 5 interviews with him conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Frank G. Walton in 1971 as part of the Senior Officers Debriefing Program. These interviews cover his entire career, 1931-1970. Much of the material is on his role in Laos and his subsequent division and corps commands. His views on procurement and development of materiel and on principles and techniques of leadership are discussed.
